Community Involvement For Miskelly Furniture, giving back to the community is a way of doing business. Each year the store donates thousands of dollars to help people in Mississippi.
Season Of Giving
Each November and December, Miskelly solicits nominations from the public for families in need of furniture or bedding. Every week in December, about 20 families are surprised to receive furniture and bedding they desperately needed. Children no longer have to sleep on the floor, a family has a dining set where they were once sitting on crates, or a couple has a sofa when they couldn’t afford one.
Donate & Sleep Great
Miskelly Sleepstore and Mississippi Blood Services partnered to encourage blood donations during the pandemic. We advertised the promotion as Donate, Sleep Great! Blood donors were given a Sleepstore voucher to redeem for a free pillow, valued at $150. Donations increased dramatically during the two week event.
Toys For Tax
Miskelly rewarded customers who donated to The Salvation Army with discounts on their purchase. By Miskelly matching the donations of customers, we were able to donate $15,000 to less-fortunate children of Mississippi.
Front Line Heroes
The real heroes of the pandemic were the workers on the front lines – medical, first responders, utility workers, etc. Miskelly wanted to honor these people that went above and beyond the call of duty. We asked for nomination and were flooded! In the end, we awarded over 50 front line heroes with gifts, including shopping sprees, pillows and bedding.
Caring Carousel Donation
Since 2004, the antique carousel inside Miskelly Pearl store has provided rides to children for a $1.00 donation. Over the years, the proceeds were donated to multiple children’s charities. In 2020, Miskelly made another donation to the children of Mississippi but this time the gift was the Carousel. MS Agricultural Museum will be its new home, allowing more children to enjoy the beautiful ride.
